Let's get Keyed Up over the idea that we have a choice. We have the opportunity to make a BOLD choice to improve how we live as individuals as well as a community. Key West and the Florida Key embrace the ideology of One Human Family and it is our responsibility to uphold this belief and use it to elevate our quality of life.
How do we do better?
In the 1960's the first recycling program linked to people's concern for the environment starting spreading. Full landfills initiated the the need for curbside recycling.
Zero waste took hold in the new millennium, challenge people to produce less. Then composting was said to be the answer.
We once thought Reduce - Reuse - Recycle would be enough to make a difference. Every little bit helps, this is true. But in reality it is going to take a lot more action from a lot more people on the individual level and from large corporations.
So again, how to we do better? The answer: education, practice, and a belief things can change. Take a stand, take up space, lead by example, and cultivate a world you would be honored to pass down to your children.
At the end of the day, if you make one positive change today we are all better off for it.
